Potluck and Pottery Soiree
Friday, June 21st 6:30
Friday, July 19th, 6:30
Friday, August 16th, 6:30
Let's gather as a community of potters to discuss pots, and break bread together. (or discuss bread and break pots?)
Bring a pot to talk about, or that you have questions about. We'll have a friendly critique or discussion, and share a meal. We will meet in the Studio Barn at Chester Springs Studio.
No fee except to bring food to share, and BYO. Register for any or all of these lazy, crazy, hazy, summertime soirees.
There is no fee for this gathering but pre-registration is requested - Register Online Here or email Heidi at hbrett@yellowsprings.org.
Check it out! Interested in pottery but feeling shy about signing up for a class? Come on down to the pottery studio and just try it! This three hour session will cover the basics of throwing on the potters wheel. Please bring a towel with you to class, all other tools and materials provided. Sunday, July 14, 1pm to 4pm |

Try your hand at pottery- the world's most fascinating hobby!

The underlying premise of this class is to afford students, whose principal interest is the wheel, the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills, to understand the complete throwing process and to work towards having a personal voice in their clay work. Students will learn to handbuild (or wheel throw) forms based on the way clay really behaves. Working with slabs, press molds and pinching, we will learn to build for strength and clarity of form. We will investigate the basic mineral oxides used for color and how to use them to get the surfaces we want. The class is highly individualized; expect to learn from each other and expect to be surprised.
