Drawing, Painting and Pottery Classes for Children at Chester Springs Studio

Begin the new year with creative classes for your children! When the weather’s cold outside and kids must spend more time indoors, they can explore the world of their imagination. Classes in art can help children to develop fine motor skills as they learn to draw what they see, or mold clay into a sculpture. As kids create they learn the rewarding experience of seeing a process through from beginning to completion. Register now for 2019 Winter Semester art and pottery classes at Chester Springs Studio in Historic Yellow Springs. We have a great line-up of courses for adults, teens and children! Workshops: Introductory to Mold Making for Sculptors

This summer we have a great line up of workshops for artists and sculptors! On August 4th and 5th we are offering a mold making workshop for sculptors with George McMonigle. “Did you ever want to make a mold of one of your sculptures or wonder how they were made?” Maybe you had mold making back in school and wondered what has changed! If so, this workshop is a perfect place to start. You will be making a silicon mold of a small (3′ to 4′) very simple sculpture. A demonstration will be given explaining modern mold making materials and techniques. Time will be given to create a small sculpture. George will then walk you through the step-by-step process of dividing your piece with shims, pouring layers of silicon and making a mother mold and a plaster cast of your work. In mold making “size matters.” To get the most out of this workshop and an understanding of the process, we will only be molding a small simple sculpture. This same process can easily be scaled up for much larger and more complex sculptures in your own studios. More information and registration...
