Adrian Martinez – HYS Art Lecture Series

ADRIAN MARTINEZ From the White House to Historic Yellow Springs — An Artistic Journey Saturday, February 23, 1pm to 3pm HYS Lincoln Building, 2nd Floor Gallery Member: $20, Non-Member: $25 REGISTER NOW   Historic Yellow Springs invites you join us for “Adrian Martinez—From the White House to Historic Yellow Springs—An Artistic Journey.” This is the first in the Art Lecture series at Historic Yellow Springs. Adrian Martinez, internationally known artist, teacher and lecturer, will speak about his experiences creating art at the White House, working with President and Mrs.Bush, and how this experience changed the art and ambitions he had growing up in D.C. These people and places inspired Martinez to present this unique power point presentation combining his intimate knowledge of American art, history and culture in the last half of the 20th century and how his particular artistic evolution in the 21st  inevitably progressed from his youth growing up in Washington D.C., to the White House, to the Historic Yellow Springs of today. Using his firsthand experience as stage actor/dancer, set designer, art and history lecturer, curator, museum exhibits designer, painter, sculptor and printmaker Martinez makes a case for cultural survival in this new and challenging era of exploding  information. At this point in his career Martinez has come to know what Historic Yellow Springs has manifested for centuries – it’s all one and context is everything. The lecture will be on February 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance as well as at the door the day of the event.   About Adrian Martinez Adrian Martinez is an internationally known artist, teacher and lecturer.
