As part of the 300th celebration of Iron and Steel in Chester County, HYS is hosting the Supplying Freedom Tour highlighting sites that supplied products to aid in the fight for freedom in the founding of our country. We will travel through East and West Pikeland, Charlestown and West Vincent Townships learning about churches, cemeteries, barns, mines, schools, covered bridges and iron mine sites along our scenic Chester County byways. Pick up a brochure on all the tours coming up in the Lincoln Building. This is our 22nd season of hosting Town Tours and Village Walks.
This program is sponsored by the Chester County Board of Commissioners Planning Commission, Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau, Chester County Historic Preservation Network and the Chester County Historical Society. For information on future tours go to www.chesco.org/Planning?townTours, or pick up a brochure throughout the county. We are sorry that you may have missed the trolley tour, but there are still many interesting tours planned throughout August.
The industrial historic landscape includes much to explore. Visit www.ironandsteelheritage.org to learn about history of the iron sites and events that are scheduled for this anniversary year.
