Join historian Dr. Sara Ray for an engaging presentation exploring the evolution of medicine during the American Revolutionary era. This lecture examines the medical theories, philosophies, and practices that shaped the care of soldiers and civilians during a period of profound political and social change.
Held at Historic Yellow Springs—the site of the Continental Congress’s first military hospital—this program offers a unique opportunity to explore Revolutionary-era medicine in the place where history unfolded.

About the Speaker
Dr. Sara Ray is a historian of science whose research explores the history of medicine, pregnancy, midwifery, and disability in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. She earned her Ph.D. in the History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, with research supported by fellowships from the Fulbright Program, the Science History Institute, the Council for European Studies, Utrecht University, and the Smithsonian Institution.
In addition to her scholarly work, Sara is an engaging public historian and storyteller whose research brings the history of medicine to life for modern audiences.
