26th Town Tours and Village Walks This new virtual Town Tours and Village Walks 2020 program has been designed to highlight our rich cultural heritage in Chester County while protecting your health and safety. Six historic sites will present virtual “Live at Five” programs on Thursdays throughout July and August. Historic Yellow Springs is scheduled for Thursday, August 20.  The program will begin at 5 p.m. with an introduction to our site. This will be followed by a pre-taped narrated video tour followed by a live webinar with questions from our viewers. Programs will run for 45 minutes. The theme is Architecture, Artistry and Personal Expression. What a perfect topic for our village that encompasses it all! CHESTER COUNTY 24th TOWN TOURS and VILLAGE WALKS Thursday, July 19– RAIN OR SHINE! In the Village of Yellow Springs Tours begin 5:30 p.m. and continue till 7 p.m. FREE to the public Historic Yellow Springs will once again be participating in the 2018 Town Tours and Village Walks program on Thursday, July 19, for the 23rd consecutive year.  Plan to join Chester County residents and beyond who will tour our village on this evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the last tour leaving at 7 p.m.  All tours are free to the public. The theme for 2018 is INNOVATION AND INDUSTRY IN CHESTER COUNTY and will be celebrated at ten sites throughout the county.  Chester County has a long and distinguished industrial heritage beginning in 1682.   Innovations in government, education and industry will be explored.  Iron and steel and our rich furnace history are celebrated as well as the “Mushroom Capital of the World” industry in southern Chester County.  County mills for grains and textiles are on the tour, plus you will learn about the antiques and modern machines used in the agricultural industry.   A visit to a canal village will highlight the innovations that made the Schuylkill Canal possible promoting major progress in industrial production.
