Volunteer at Historic Yellow Springs
Historic Yellow Springs volunteers provide an invaluable service to HYS, playing a vital role in the successful operation of our historic community. Whether assisting with special events, organizing archives, guiding tours, hanging art exhibits, sorting mailings, greeting visitors, or caring for the gardens, our team of over 200 volunteers help to preserve our history while enriching the community through the arts and education.
We welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds and ages, and work with organizations and businesses that wish to contribute through volunteering. Applications to volunteer are welcomed throughout the year. To apply, complete an application form and HYS Volunteer Coordinator Kathy McGarry will contact you. If you have volunteered previously and wish to again, email Kathy McGarry at email@example.com.
Volunteers work at Historic Yellow Springs includes:
Delve into the history of Historic Yellow Springs as you assist in developing and organizing our archives. Volunteers research, file, sort, organize and enter data.
Assist with art exhibits such as the Yellow Springs Art Show and Celebrating Clay. Volunteers are needed to paint pedestals, install exhibitions, welcome guests, handle sales, package art and break down the show.
Chester Springs Studio
Join the creative team at Chester Springs Studio! Qualified individuals may apply to volunteer as a Studio Tech for the Ceramic or Fine Art Studios, or to volunteer as a Kiln Assistant.
Historic Yellow Springs also welcomes community service volunteers. For community service requests, email Christine Roth at firstname.lastname@example.org. Community Service projects are available during HYS office hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Do you enjoy meeting new people? Greet visitors, take admissions and answer questions during Historic Yellow Springs special events.
Family and Community Events
Help facilitate and host family programs, including lectures, holiday events and children’s activities.
Grounds and Gardens
Help maintain and care for the 142 acres comprising Historic Yellow Springs. Volunteers supplement the work of our ground crews by assisting with gardening, general maintenance, painting and our annual clean-up day.
Teens and college-age students can volunteer to assist with camps and children’s programs.
Volunteers are needed to assist with mailings and data entry during regular office hours.
Village Tour Guides
Conduct tours of our historic village for adult and student groups, and our annual Town Tours and Village Walks. Tour training is provided.
