Guided History Tours

We are excited to offer the community guided history tours, where you can meet a skilled tour guide and delve deeper into the rich history of the village. While Historic Yellow Springs is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for self-guided exploration, guided history tours provide an engaging and informative experience, bringing the past to life.

Offered on the Third Thursday of each month at 10am. Community Guided History Tours give curious individuals a “behind the scenes” experience of the village. Tours meet in front of the Washington building and typically last one hour depending on questions and visitor interests.

Private Group Bookings

Private group tours and art making experiences are great for schools and summer camps, corporate, and nonprofit organizations. An expert from Yellow Springs will share the ins and outs of the village and provide additional insights about current exhibitions, historic structures, and natural mineral springs. Learn the stories about Yellow Springs’ 300+ years of history, and try your hand at a making experience with coworkers, classmates, or friends.

Historic Yellow Springs is located a short distance off Route 113 in the village of Chester Springs, between Phoenixville and Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Our village includes many buildings, but the best address is  1709 Art School Rd, Chester Springs, PA 19425 as it will take you right to the parking lot.

Because it is built into a hill and many buildings were constructed before the Americans with Disabilities act was signed, our site has limited handicap accessibility. If you require special accommodations to experience the village, please let us know when RSVPing, we are happy to make accommodations where available.

There are publicly accessible restrooms in many of the buildings along the tour. Tour guides are happy to point them out and pause the tour as needed.

Tours are typically held rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, tours may be rescheduled or canceled. We will notify you as early as possible if changes are necessary.

Pets are not allowed inside historic buildings or on the tours, but service animals are welcome.

We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for walking. Depending on the weather, bringing water, sunscreen, or an umbrella may also be helpful.

Yes! We strongly encourage photography throughout the tour, and please feel free to tag and share content from your visit on social media.

Tours typically include key sites like the ruins of the Revolutionary War hospital, the Chester Springs Studio, the Lincoln Building, and the grounds of the historic village. Depending on the tour, you may also see our current art exhibitions.
