About Historic Yellow Springs

Role Purpose

The ideal candidate can create and deliver engaging lesson plans that introduce and explore various art-making techniques to youth and teen students. They use diverse teaching methods to accommodate young students with different abilities and skill levels. Additionally, they maintain a safe and supportive learning environment by upholding safety standards and preparing necessary materials for successful classroom activities. They also track student progress and provide personalized guidance to help each student reach their full potential. Instructors working with minors must complete criminal background and child abuse clearances before starting.

Competency Requirements

  • Classroom/behavior management and de-escalation experience preferred
  • Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities to teach processes and procedures

Education and Experience

  • Experience in sharing or educating youth on art making
  • Experience working with varied audiences preferred
  • Art experience such as exhibitions, commissions or professional work preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Instructors are required to travel to and from the Historic Yellow Springs campus for class
  • Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs
  • Perform physical tasks related to the medium being taught
