Contribute Directly from Your IRA

Your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) provides one of your best assets for charitable giving—and a meaningful opportunity to support the mission.

If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make a direct transfer of up to $108,000 (in 2025) from your IRA to a qualified charity like Historic Yellow Springs. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and are excluded from taxable income, an even better outcome than a charitable deduction. (Note that 401(k)s and other employer plans do not qualify.)

To Make a Gift

The Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) must be a direct transfer from your IRA account to Historic Yellow Springs and timing is important since the QCD, normally distributed as a check, needs to clear your account before calendar year-end. When you are ready, contact your IRA custodian and follow their procedures to request a QCD. Ask them to direct your contribution along with your name and address to:

Historic Yellow Springs, Inc.
1685 Art School Road
Chester Springs, PA 19425
Tax ID Number: 23-1920704

Please note: Most custodians mail checks directly to us. Please instruct them to include your name and address with their cover communication so we can attribute the generosity to you. We also have donors who prefer to have their custodian mail the check to them so they can forward it to us. That’s fine too. Just stay mindful of the need to have us deposit the check no later than December 31.

As a registered 501 (c)(3) with a mission to share, preserve, and celebrate the unique living village of Yellow Springs while focusing on history, arts, education, and the environment, your gift has a significant impact on the advancement of this work.
