Role Purpose
The ideal candidate possesses the skills and ability to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for key media and topics using various teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and skill sets. They can also ensure a conducive learning environment by maintaining safety standards and preparing necessary materials to ensure successful classroom activities. Finally, they can track student progress and offer personalized guidance to help students maximize potential by the end of the experience. Any Instructor working with minors must first complete criminal background and child abuse clearances.
Competency Requirements
- Classroom/behavior management and de-escalation experience preferred
- Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities to teach complex processes and procedures
- CPR certification is required for summer camp and youth instructors
Education and Experience
- Experience in sharing or educating people on art making within the designated art media
- Experience working with varied audiences preferred
- Experience working with youth required for summer camp and youth instructors
- Art experience such as exhibitions, commissions or professional work preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Instructors are required to travel to and from the Historic Yellow Springs campus daily
- Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs
- Perform physical tasks related to the medium being taught
- Instructors must pass criminal background check and child abuse clearances
