About Historic Yellow Springs

Steeped in distinguished history, Historic Yellow Springs is a living village that spans 300 years of American history. Comprising 11 buildings and 142 acres, the village is a hub for fine art, sculpture, and ceramic classes. With renowned art shows, a picturesque venue for events, and trails passing a Revolutionary War hospital commissioned by General Washington, HYS continues to share, preserve, and celebrate its unique living village.

Our Mission

The mission of Historic Yellow Springs, Inc. is to share, preserve, and celebrate the unique living village of Yellow Springs.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for motivated and enthusiastic teen volunteers to support our summer camp teachers in delivering fun and engaging lesson plans on various media topics. This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain experience in teaching, mentoring, and working with kids in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide encouragement and individualized guidance to help students get the most out of their camp experience.
  • Help camp teachers present exciting lesson plans focused on weekly themes, using different teaching methods to meet the needs of students with various skill levels.
  • Assist in setting up and organizing materials for classroom activities.
  • Assist Fine Arts and Ceramics projects
  • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment by following camp safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Instructors are required to travel to and from the Historic Yellow Springs campus daily
  • Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs
  • Perform physical tasks related to the medium being taught
  • Interns over 18 must pass criminal background check and child abuse clearances
