Join William Peck Jr., lay historian of the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ Orphan Schools program, for a presentation on the history of Pennsylvania’s Soldiers’ Orphan Schools, a program that spanned three centuries from 1864 to 2009. The presentation will focus particularly on the Soldiers’ Orphan School at Chester Springs.

Peck has been associated with Scotland School for Veterans Children his entire life. His parents were graduates of Scotland School, and multiple ancestors attended Scotland School and other Soldiers’ Orphan Schools, including Chester Springs. His family’s history with the schools, along with his years of research, have led him to pursue the preservation of the legacy of the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ Orphan Schools program.

Peck is a 1981 graduate of West Point and currently works as a data analyst at the U.S. Naval Academy. He grew up in Chambersburg and now lives in Bel Air, Maryland. His presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
