Artist Statement:

Hope is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops–at all….

Radical Compassion in these cataclysmic times demands muscular hope. Using the metaphor of freedom that birds represent, I chose to show these vases as a statement of that hope and the perseverance needed to confront fascism. 

The design of these vases mimic the patterning on bird feathers. Mourning Doves carry the message of hope; the red-bellied woodpecker models the perseverance to maintain resilience in these dark times.  A connection to nature is more important now than ever. We seek meaning and balance in nature and it never disappoints.
