More about the 2026 Yellow Springs Ceramics National:
Since the founding of Chester Springs Studio in 1978, The Village of Yellow Springs has remained committed to supporting artists, fostering critical engagement in ceramics, and welcoming new audiences to this diverse and ever-evolving medium.
In 2007, Chester Springs Studio officially merged with Historic Yellow Springs, bringing together the village’s rich history and vibrant art community. This merger has created a unique blend of art, history, and land conservation while celebrating a unique backdrop for one of a kind classes, workshops, and exhibits. Today, our art programs thrive, making Historic Yellow Springs an artistic hub in northern Chester County. Our talented faculty brings both expertise and enthusiasm to intimate classroom settings, while visiting artists lead workshops that broaden students’ horizons.
This year, we are honored to welcome Sean O’Connell as our juror and featured artist. Sean’s work is rooted in a deep appreciation for the beauty of handmade objects and the meaningful connections they foster in everyday life. Through functional pottery, carved wooden utensils, paintings, and sculpture, he explores the relationship between craftsmanship, natural materials, and intentional living. His pottery and wooden objects are created to enrich daily routines with thoughtfully made, enduring forms, while his paintings and sculptural works investigate pattern, repetition, and abstraction. Sean’s thoughtful perspective on making, materiality, and the value of slowing down will bring a unique voice to this year’s event, which will feature exhibitions, awards, lectures, and workshops. We also offer special artist tours and community experiences designed to engage and inspire collectors, students, makers, and art enthusiasts of all ages.
