Thank you so much for your interest in performing as a costumed character during this year’s Town Tours! In celebration of America 250, this year’s tours will focus on the Revolutionary War at Yellow Springs, specifically the people who lived and worked at Washington Hall during the summer of 1778. Because of this theme, we will feature a different cast of characters than our regular Town Tours.

Please review the list below and let us know if you are interested in portraying any of these people from Yellow Springs’ past. We will provide a full historical background for each real-life person on whom the character is based. As always, we encourage you to make the character your own while staying true to the historical setting.

As a reminder, Town Tours will take place on Thursday, August 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Volunteers may arrive anytime during the setup window, which runs from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you plan to change into your costume after arriving, we recommend coming closer to 3:30 p.m. so you have plenty of time to get ready before the tours begin.

This year, we will have seven stations featuring costumed characters, so not every character on this list will be assigned to a station. If we have more volunteers than stations, additional characters will be featured inside Washington Hall, where they will remain in character and interact with guests while they wait for their tour to begin.
